Good, Not So Good...

There's nothing else I can tell you about natural hair care and products that you haven't read everywhere else.
There aren't many styles that I could show you that you haven't seen somewhere or done yourself before.
One thing I can tell you is that I'm tired of trying every expensive product out there because someone else uses it and they have beautiful hair.
I found this product last summer at a local beauty supply store, and I have to say I really liked it.
It does have some un-favorable ingredients, but it has NO petrolatum or mineral oil, so in my opinion, it's still a step up from hair grease!

You might have seen this product before.  I liked it because it keeps C's hair in place. All of her little fly aways stay down, and when I take a style out after a week, her hair isn't all dryed out. It's not brittle, it's not breaking off- it's just fine!
Maybe there are people who have experienced hair loss from using hair grease, but I used it on my daughter until I found out it was supposed to be bad for hair (over 3 years) and I never noticed any hair loss, breakage or slowed growth. In fact, since I have started using all natural products, I have seen no improvement at all in the health or appearance of C's hair! I have always used the same detangling techniques, the same washing routine... Ive kept everything the same except for our combing/brushing routine. I used to think I was supposed to use a hair pick to comb my daughters curly biracial hair, and that's what I used until I knew of a better way. I was never very rough on her hair, but I know now that I was causing breakage!
So, if I'm doing everything 'the right way' now... why isn't C's hair any different than before?
I have seen many people who have the most beautiful hair I've seen, and when I have asked them what they use, I have not once heard anything organic or natural! Everyone has told me they use PINK oil, or even hair grease!
This is why I have decided that not every product is worth the money, even if it is organic, and even if it makes someone else's hair look healthy and beautiful. I have to find what works best for C's hair, and what best fits into our budget. This pomade is just such a product! It can be a little heavy if you use too much (unless you're doing a style you want to last all week), so a little goes a long way.
I haven't seen any build-up, and this product washes out easily with one shampooing. I only pay $4 for a 4oz tub of this, and it lasts us 2 months or longer.
I have only had Bee Mine Curly Butter for a couple weeks, and I have used most of a 16oz jar! I thought it would be worth the $23 if it worked as good and lasted as long as it seems to for others who have used it, but that isn't how it worked for us.
So don't think you have to spend the most money possible and you will get some miracle product- there is NO miracle product. Some things work for some and not others, this is what works for us and if you are looking for something inexpensive (and don't have a problem with the ingredients), I believe this product is worth a try! If you've used it, I'd like to hear what you think!

  1. Great review! I agree with you, what works for others may not work for you.

  3. Thank you for being courageous enough to post this! I really appreciate it because I have heard that same thing when I ask others what they use. We live on a budget, so I really need to be careful but was struggling because I didn't want to do something "bad" for our girls' hair.

  4. I've seen this product recommended on a bi-racial hair care forum before. I looked at it over the weekend and thought about purchasing it. I have been trying the all natural and more expensive hair products and haven't noticed a difference in my kids hair as far as it staying moisturized and their hair not being crazy frizzy! Great review!
